6.6Going further

Goal: choose a direction (speaking, relationship, writing, influence) and know the resources.
Estimated time: 8 min · If you only have 5 min: read “The essentials in 30s” + the diagram.

The essentials in 30 seconds

  • Deepen: one track by your needs — speaking and storytelling, relationships and conflicts, professional writing, distance and cross-cultural.
  • Duration: practice + requested feedback, recording when speaking, rewriting important emails, the guide's capstone project.
  • Stance: pick one direction, progress through regular practice rather than stacking resources without using them.

Yasmine thread — 1 year on: her 12-month plan

One year on, Yasmine sets her plan: deepen public speaking (stage fright marked her) and NVC, ask for feedback after each meeting, and keep her communication kit updated. No big program right away: one targeted track, practice each month, and the capstone project that continues. Communicating is not a diploma you get, but a practice you maintain.

Start from the real need of the moment: one precise direction to strengthen, not a prestigious catalogue.

Specializing

With a solid base, several paths open up: advanced public speaking and storytelling (L5.4, L5.5), interpersonal communication (assertiveness, NVC, conflict management — L4), professional writing (reports, summaries — L2), or remote and intercultural communication (L5.2, L5.3). Choose according to your needs; the skills reinforce one another.

Practice & progress

Progress comes from practice: ask for feedback, record yourself speaking, rewrite your important e-mails. The guide's capstone project is an ideal hands-on setting.

Common misinterpretation: "going further = stacking resources". No. One targeted track practiced (then replayed on real situations) beats an unused catalogue: pick by your real need of the moment.

Ready-to-say script — ask for feedback after a talk (1 min)

"I ran this meeting / gave this presentation. Tell me one thing that helped understanding, and one thing to improve. I take notes and retry next time."

Small business / tight budget

Favor practice and peers: requested feedback, rewritten emails, free speaking practice.

Algeria SME

Look for locally accessible practices and resources and check practical terms before committing.

Remote / hybrid

Prioritize the distance track: written explicitness, camera, summary after each video call.

Cross-cultural

Prioritize the cross-cultural track as soon as codes differ: question, adapt register and pace.
